I had a problem with Adobe Fireworks CS3 edition in Windows Vista. Every time i selected a tool like the brush tool or the eraser tool, i could barely use them due to a strong flickering that could not let me controlĀ them.
So i followed the next steps:
- Right-click on Fireworks shortcut on the desktop and select Properties
- Select the the Compatibility tab
- Under Compatability mode label, select the checkbox for Run this program in compatability mode for: and select Windows XP (Service Pack 2) from the drop down box.
- Under the Settings label, check Disable desktop composition

In Windows 7, I right clicked on the Fireworks link and selected “Troubleshoot Compatibility”. The initial settings Windows tried didn’t make any difference but then I ticked the “Program Opens but isn’t displayed properly”, followed by, “Windows Transparency isn’t displayed properly”. It now works perfectly. Thanks to PCTechBlog otherwise I’d still be struggling!
